MYOB - Batch changing data

The book industry is changing from 10-digit ISBNs to 13-digit UPC codes
for all products exactly 364 days from now (actually, it's pretty much
happened, but it's mandatory next year).

If I have to change probably over 10,000 inventory cards in MYOB
manually to have new product ID numbers, it's probably easier to start
a new business.

MYOB doesn't make it easy: ODBC access only works for reading, not
writing data, import and export won't let you change the item number,
there's no macro language. I understand the reasons for these kinds of
things (data integrity, mainly), but that doesn't help solve the
problem.

I have a table with both the 'old' and 'new' ID's in them... I just
want to force that down my MYOB database's throat.

Willing to rent clues...

What version of MYOB (country and version number?).

The current version of ODBC is read-write, but that's not going to help
you - it only enables you to do what importing allows you to do at
present.

Short answer is, you may have to start a new MYOB file next year, there
is no way the system will help you change the item codes.

I recommend you lobby MYOB in your country to create a program to allow
that - there are going to be 1000's of users in the same situation.

I will bring it to the attention of MYOB in NZ and Australia for
starters.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've already said, "pretty please with
sugar" to customer service via e-mail a couple of times, including
offering to pay them or a consultant for a conversion tool.

We're currently using V14, USA version, Windows. If their database
performance weren't so snarky, I'm even willing to try pushing events
at the application to automate the changes - a dubious prospect.
