Can anyone offer some similarities and differences between these two
accounting software?

Also, can Microsoft's Small Business Accounting do complete accouting
work up to Balance Sheet, P & L, etc. like QuickBook does?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can do a free download of SBA, I think it is a 20use trial. I
would use it before I use Quickbooks, it behaves more like an
accounting program than a extended checkbook.

My preference at that level of software is still Peachtree. The
negative of the first two is lack of data exchange.

SBA can import data if you buy add-ons from another company, hidden
costs. Quickbooks has a proprietary format. Peachtree can import CSV
files natively. Peachtree can print complete financials. You can
modify the formats to strong degree. Financials can be sent to Excel
with the click of a button. Of course SBA has the ability to do this
as well.

I don't work for Sage or Peachtree, I am just an accountant with a
penchant for accounting software.

Have you had to file any financial statements in the new xbrl format?
I know the SEC has a pilot going, and most accounting packages say they
can handle it, just wondered if anyone had used it.
