Someone pointed me to a website for a conference that alleges
traditional cost accounting doesn't work in a manufacturing firm that
employs Lean Manufacturing. Has anyone heard about "Lean Accounting"
and its validity? When I went to www.leanaccountingsummit.com/LA there
were links to a number of sites that say the same.

Lean Accounting has its basis in the Theory of Contraints.

The answer is yes, Lean Manufacturing requires a change in Cost
Accounting. As far as I can see a dollar is still a dollar, it is how
you look at the costs and the behaviour of costs. I am not sure where
this is all leading, but things are definitely changing.
