Quickbooks legacy question
(too old to reply)

I've been using QB2001 Pro, since I haven't had need of the new features
more recent versions provide. I recently had to rebuild my laptop and
backed up the databases involved in the two companies I had setup. I've
reinstalled Quickbooks, but can't restore the databases as they were
created from updated QB2001, not the native.

I looked on the Intuit/Quickbooks site, and apparently if you're using
anything older than the new 2007 version, you're SOL. Outside of
upgrading to 2007, are there any other suggestions? If I do upgrade, am
I assured that I can restore these databases?

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean "native"?

Have you applied the QuickBooks updates?

What message are you getting when you try to open the files using the
installed version of 2001?

Sorry. By native I meant installed from CD, no updates. However, I
finally did find the update I needed; had to keep Googling until it
surfaced. I couldn't find anyway to download it from www.quickbooks.com
